All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines key terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations during the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- Drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type. Those under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are necessary, as well as any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Bridlington office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and immediately report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed to document the state of the car. Please return the vehicle in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you anticipate a late return, notify us as soon as possible to avoid extra charges. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during the rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Optional insurance upgrades may be available to minimize your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional coverage applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation Policy and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. Please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for precise information. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful purposes or activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to third parties or allowing unauthorized individuals to drive is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and passengers must not exceed specified limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bridlington is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This does not affect our liability for negligence resulting in death or personal injury, or for fraudulent activities.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in this region.
